Continuing Action – Leverage Crossborder Economic Relationships
In April 2016, SANDAG, in partnership with Caltrans and the Imperial County Transportation Commission,
initiated a study to evaluate the economic and air quality/climate impacts of delays at the California-Baja
California ports of entry. As part of the California-Baja California study to evaluate economic and air quality/climate impacts
of delays at ports of entry, the study team utilized preliminary data to draft the three-volume study report which summarizes the estimates of economic
air quality impacts due to delay at the California-Baja California Ports of Entry (POEs). The study team began preparing for the availability of new
data to use as inputs to the estimation models. Visit www.sandag.org/borderdelays for study updates.
In April 2018, SANDAG Board Members and staff participated
in the 13th annual Binational Delegation to Mexico City where participants met with key federal officials and
business industry leaders to discuss issues related to border transportation infrastructure, environmental issues
and binational trade.
