2021 Regional Plan

The 2021 Regional Plan provides a long-term blueprint for the San Diego region that seeks to meet regulatory requirements, address traffic congestion, and create equal access to jobs, education, healthcare, and other community resources. Since the Regional Plan must be updated every four years, we have an opportunity to reassess how we plan for the region’s future based on new population and economic growth forecasts, laws, and trends in technology.

The draft 2021 Regional Plan is the result of years of planning, data analysis, and community engagement to reimagine the San Diego region with a transformative transportation system, a sustainable pattern of growth and development, and innovative demand and management strategies.

The public review and comment period for the draft 2021 Regional Plan was conducted from May 28 to August 6, 2021, and is now closed. Comments were accepted online and via email, voicemail, fax, and written mail. Recordings of the public hearings and informational open houses held during the public comment period can be access and viewed online.
